      2018  FALLOW RATE RECOMMENDATIONS

Some farmers have glyphosate resistant kochia and Russian Thistle in central Montana farmers need to make sure that all weeds are dead after every application. To accomplish this, use recommended labeled rates, tank mixes to change up and add different modes of action, and use quality additives. Scout fields early and often, Kochia has a short germination period in early spring, small weeds are easier to control, shortening your spray interval to 25-35 days between applications, and scout fields 2-3 weeks after each application to evaluate control.

1. Pre-Plant and First Pass Fallow (April-May time frame)

Pre-plant, 16-24 oz RT3+.25% v/v non-ionic surfactant (NIS) +AMS or quality replacement pre-plant.

First pass on fallow,

  • If you suspect you have glyphosate resistant kochia or Russian Thistle problems we recommend that you tank mix 2 oz. of Valor, 4 oz of Metribuzin plus 32 oz. per acre of RT3 or Roundup  Powermax. See labels for timing and recommendations.

  • For fields that have not had problem weeds in the past:

16 – 24 oz/A RT3+8 oz/A 2,4-D LV6+.25% v/v NIS+AMS or quality replacement or 3-4 oz. per acre Dicamba.  Treat fields when weeds are actively growing and avoid treatments during extended cold or snow events.
